1. How can I apply for Reward Ads?
- You need to be opted-in to the Ad Revenue Sharing Program.
- Your series must meet these requirements:
- 1. Series with Viewer Ads, AND
- 2. Series with global monthly page view of 100,000 or higher
- Once these requirements are met the 'Apply' button on your Creator Dashboard, located under the Ad Share tab, will become available to you.
2. What are Reward Ads?
- Reward ads are 15-30 second video ads.
- Your select episodes would be locked behind these ads, users would need to download the app and view the ad to access the episode.
3. How long do the ads last?
- Reward ads are 15-30 seconds long.
4. How long will my episode be locked?
- Reward Ads lock an episode for up to 14 days.
- After 14 days of publication the ad will be automatically removed.
- If you wish to remove the ad before the 14 days, you can manually remove it from the episode at any time.
5. How many episodes can I lock behind ads?
- At this time, you can lock up to 3 episodes behind a Reward Ad.
6. Why do I make more money with Reward Ads and not Static Ads?
- Reward Ads (videos) are typically worth more than Static Ads for potential advertisers.
- Creators receive revenue depending on their series' contribution to the total revenue shareable. WEBTOON's total ad revenue shareable each month fluctuates depending on advertiser spending and the global ad market.
7. Does Reward Ads lock all my episodes?
- No, only the episodes you choose to have the Reward Ad.
- Only three episodes can have a Reward Ad up at a time.
8. Why do Reward Ad episodes need to be approved first before publishing?
- This policy is in place to help reduce content risks and ensure all content is appropriate for both the platform and our ad partners.
9. Can I turn off Reward Ads if I don’t like it?
- You can turn off Reward Ads for any of your series at any time by clicking on 'Cancel' next to your series title from the 'AD SHARING' tab of your account dashboard. You can also permanently end your participation in the Ad Revenue Sharing Program by opting out whenever you like. To opt out, click the 'Opt out' button at the bottom of the 'AD SHARING' page.
- If you turn off Ad display or opt out of the program, you won't receive payment for the balance that accrues after the date when you turned off Ad Display and/or opted out of the program.
- If you opt out or delete your account, any balance in your account above $10 from the time you opt out will be paid to you as long as you maintain a valid PayPal ID or Patreon ID. If you select PayPal as your Payment Method, you must register your Payment Information to receive the accrued balance on your account. You can also choose not to receive the accrued balance on your account when you opt out of the program.
- If you change your mind, you can rejoin 2 months after the day you opt out. Once you've opted out, any records will be deleted completely and can't be restored if you rejoin.
- If you just turn off Ad Display without opting out of the program, the $100 payment threshold will still apply.
10. Is there an exclusivity period to episodes I publish under Reward Ads?
- No. If you choose to upload an episode onto WEBTOON CANVAS under a Reward Ad, you are able to share that same episode on other platforms.
11. My readers aren't able to view the Reward Ad video. What can they do?
- There could be multiple reasons such as network connectivity, ad blocker, etc.
- Inform your reader(s) to submit a support request at https://webtoon.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
- Filling out the form allows users to 'report a bug' and provide the necessary information that our WEBTOON support team needs in order to help them troubleshoot.
12. My subscribers are not receiving an 'update notification' for my episode with a Reward Ad. What can they do?
